Turkish Roman("Gypsy") Dance Workshop

Learn basics steps, hips and arms for this distinctive folk dance.  
Turkish Roman dance uses unique 9/8 rhythms with sensational melodies to achieve its allure. Delpha Reihs has studied this dance in Istanbul, Turkey since 2006 with internationally known Roman dancer,  
Reyhan Tuzsuz(reyhantuzsuz.com) and together they have produced an  
instructional DVD on the subject.
 
Turkish and Arabic Doumbek Drum Basics
with David Reihs

5:15-6:15, $15 for members $20 for non members
Learn basic strokes and tones with techniques for practicing rhythms.  
The Doumbek is a mid east goblet drum also known as Darbuka,Egyptian  
Tablah, Derbakki and others. David Reihs is a lifelong musician and has learned Middle Eastern percussion in Istanbul, Turkey and North America from several of the world’s greatest Mid East percussionists over the last ten years. David is also the founder of the dhavir  
productions(dhavir.com), promoting music and dance of the Middle East.
